God is not divided

God is One

Thos. Thompson

All Scripture is King James Version.

It is thrilling to think that the great God of eternity and creation is also our salvation! God himself robed Himself in flesh to provide salvation for all who will come to Him.

Isaiah 43:3 - For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour…

Isaiah 43:10&11 - Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.

Jesus is revealed as God dwelling with us.

Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

The Bible teaches, in no uncertain terms, that there is only one God.

Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

The Bible does not teach that God is divided, or that he exists in a triune form, but rather that God manifest Himself in the flesh.

2 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

God has been One from eternity. If God is divided, which of the divisions walked with Adam in the garden? Which division said “Let there be light…” and created all things at the beginning? The Godhead is not divided into three persons, but rather the Godhead has been manifest in Jesus Christ.

Col. 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

The Holy Ghost is the spirit of Christ in us.

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Jesus is the Comforter, also known as the Holy Ghost.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jesus said that he would send the Comforter, and that He would not leave us Comfortless, He, Himself would come to us in the form of the Holy Ghost.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

The devils believe in one God, because they at one time existed in His presence. They tremble at the knowledge of the oneness of God. The question is, how do you respond to the knowledge that God is one?

The fact that God is one is without dispute and with out controversy. What true father wouldn’t die to save his child from being killed? What kind of love is displayed if God says I love you so much someone else is going to die for you? The glorious truth is that God did not send a representative, or a third part of Himself to redeem fallen, and sinful mankind, but rather He robed himself in flesh, was whipped, crucified, buried, and rose again for the redemption of man.

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

The Great God of the Old Testament is revealed as Jesus in the New Testament!

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah said the Son would be called the Father, but not just the Father, but the Everlasting Father. Jesus clarified this in the 14th chapter of John when He said, “he that hath seen me hath seen the Father...”

John 14:7-9 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Is God divided? Certainly not! There is one only God; His name is Jesus!
